Spoiler Alert- The following content may contain potential spoilers that could impact your viewing experience. Proceed with caution.

Talk about déjà vu. Yet another major television series has fallen victim to online leaks after The Boys, and this time, it’s House of the Dragon Season 3 in the spotlight.

Even before the season officially premiered on 21 June 2026, detailed plot points and episode breakdowns had already begun circulating online.

Since then, the controversy has only grown, with spoilers continuing to do the rounds across social media and fan communities. So what did those leaks reveal? Did it ruin the fans' experience? Let's find out!

What is the source of the ‘leaks’ surrounding House of the Dragon Season 3?

The leaks appear to have originated from a series of detailed Reddit posts that surfaced in early 2026, particularly around February. Much of the discussion was centred in communities such as r/HOTDGreens and r/HouseOfTheDragon. Initially, these supposed leaks were not taken seriously.

According to the posts, the leakers allegedly had access to scripts or early versions of the episodes. The leaked material reportedly included specific dialogue of episodes 1 and 2, major character moments, battle sequences, emotional scenes, and plot developments. While many fans initially dismissed the posts as elaborate fan fiction (as mentioned above), others pointed out that several details appeared to match known filming locations, cast schedules, and storylines.

Although HBO has not publicly commented on the situation, moderators of Reddit pages and other fan communities moved quickly to remove spoiler-heavy discussions and leaked content. The main question now is, did those leaks prove to be true?

What do the ‘leaks' reveal about HOTD season 3 episode 1?

As per the leak, the episode reportedly opens with the Black faction returning to Dragonstone. Rhaenyra is finally released from confinement, and her grief quickly turns into fury as she lashes out with the chilling line, “Have You NOT Betrayed Your Queen?” Meanwhile, Baela looks across the Gullet towards Driftmark, desperately hoping for Jace's return.

Alyn helps an injured Corlys recover from his battle wounds, but the most heartbreaking moment comes when Jace's body is recovered and brought back to Dragonstone. Rhaenyra is said to spend a devastating scene sitting beside her fallen son.

The action then shifts to the Riverlands for the Battle of the Red Fork. Daemon joins forces with Oscar Tully and Black Aly Blackwood to take on Lord Jason Lannister's army. The battle reportedly takes a dramatic turn when the Winter Wolves, led by Rodrick Dustin, also known as Roddy the Ruin, emerge from the forest to fight for Rhaenyra. The Blacks ultimately secure victory, with Roddy presenting Jason Lannister's severed head to Daemon before the Winter Wolves celebrate with a victory song.

The episode's biggest moments are said to arrive during the Fall of King's Landing. After learning of Jace's death, Daemon returns to Dragonstone and joins Rhaenyra in launching a full-scale assault on the capital. Seven dragons reportedly descend upon the Red Keep as the city falls into chaos. Alicent fails to deliver King's Landing as promised, leading to a tense confrontation where Rhaenyra demands, “Where is the Usurper's head!” Daemon allegedly clears the Iron Throne room by force before Rhaenyra finally takes her seat on the throne while Alicent watches.

Were all the ‘leaks’ true in HOTD Season 3 episode 1?

Now that we have an idea regarding the leaks, did everything turn out to be true?. Many of the discrepancies were linked to the Battle of the Gullet and the actions of several key characters. Some reported dragonrider pairings, specific character deaths, and certain battle outcomes, including parts of the Velaryon fleet conflict, did not play out exactly as described in the leaks. While several major plot points, such as the scale of the naval battle and some significant deaths, appeared to be largely correct, other details were noticeably different.

Dialogue, the timing of key alliances, and several minor character storylines also reportedly differed from what viewers ultimately saw in the episode. Because of these differences, many fans now believe the leaks may have been a mixture of genuine insider information rather than facts.

HOTD fandom has mixed responses

The fans are divided; some feel the leaks are great, while others feel it's underwhelming. One user on X(formerly Twitter) said, “These leaks are way too detailed to be fake, if even half is true, Episode 2 is going to break the internet.”

The reported twists involving Aemond also caught plenty of attention. One Redditor commented, “Aemond burning Harrenhal and then getting injured? This season is ruthless.”

Another fan focused on the emotional and political drama, writing, “Rhaenyra on the Iron Throne while Alicent watches? The drama is next level. Can’t unsee it now.”

One more passionate user said, “These leaks completely ruined the season for me. The emotional weight of Jace’s death and Rhaenyra’s breakdown is gone. I wish I never saw any of this garbage.”
